As you may know, kayaks
are a part of our DNA. It took
a background in building and paddling kayaks for us to see the
possibilities for double paddle canoes forty years ago.
This being said, we still occasionally build two kayak models with
each having two different deck configurations.
The first kayak we call
the Salar.
It is 16’ 6” long and 23” wide.
We can build this as a full tilt sea kayak with 2 Valley hatches,
bulk heads and full deck rigging. This
boat with a Kevlar deck and hull weighs 32 lbs and costs $2995.00.
If you’re not going to
use your kayak on the sea or big lakes primarily you could consider our
‘smooth deck’ version. This
boat comes with storage/flotation bags instead of hatches and bulk heads.
The weight drops to a noteworthy 24 lbs.
This kayak is priced at $2595.00.
Our second kayak we call
the Sable.
This boat is 18’4” long and 23” wide.
It is Pete’s design but is very ‘British’ in appearance and
performance. The sea kayak
features a deck and a hull built of Kevlar and carbon fiber, Valley
hatches, including a day hatch, plus full deck rigging etc.
This boat weighs 38 lbs. and costs $3295.00.
The ‘not so sea kayak’ version with a smooth deck (no hatches
and bulkheads) weighs 32 lbs. and sells for $2895.00.
Both of our kayaks can be
equipped with a rudder if you desire.
We designed each boat to not require a rudder, they both track well
on their own. We use Seal Line
Smart Track rudder systems. The
rudder option adds $300.00 to the price.
There are a lot of kayaks
on the market now. Our two
have to be ranked among the best. However
kayak building is not our main activity.
We fit them into our schedule when we can.
