“One size
doesn’t fit all” is a truism most boat builders don’t seem to
understand. If a paddler
doesn’t feel quite right in a boat he or she is told to sit on a
cushion or to try one of the other boats that might be available.
This doesn’t happen with us because we build a full selection
of canoes. Our ‘Carry’
boats are available in 8’, 9’, 10’, 11’, 12’, 13’ and 14’
lengths. Our ‘Travel’
boats are offered in 16’, 17’, 20’ and 23’ lengths.
Almost all boats can be had in 2 or 3 different profiles.
All of this means
that we can function like a high end bicycle shop to get you fitted to a
boat. Similar to a bike shop
we’ll take into consideration your height, your torso height, leg
length, arm length, shoe size, hand size and weight.
We’ll consider what type of paddling you intend to do and under
what conditions.
On our pond we’ll
begin with some basic instruction. Then
we’ll put you in a variety of boats.
We’ll watch and advise. Finally
we’ll reach a mutual decision about a boat.
We’ll custom mount the foot braces and adjust the seat and
backrest if necessary. At
the end of this process you can be assured that you will have a boat
that fits as perfectly as possible.
This is our Perfect Fit Program.
