Giving Back Matters to Us
Hornbeck Boats was founded on a simple idea: lightweight boats make it easier for people to experience the outdoors. We are shaped by the Adirondack wilderness around us and the communities inside it.
We help nonprofits whose mission is the preservation and protection of the Adirondacks
and/or nonprofits that support Adirondack communities. Nonprofits chosen for our
program pay 50% of retail price and sell raffle tickets to raise money.
Supporting local and regional organizations is our way of
protecting access to wild places, strengthening outdoor education, and helping our
neighbors.

The Impact Goes Beyond the Boat

"We always appreciate our partnership with Hornbeck Boats. Many thanks to everyone at Hornbeck for continuing this support with the donation of the New Trick 12 canoe. As we celebrated the Adirondack Council's 50th anniversary in 2025, the Hornbeck Canoe Raffle was a great addition to our fundraising activities. As an organization that accepts no state or federal dollars, the canoe raffle remains a crucial part of our fundraising efforts.
By sharing this opportunity through various digital and print media channels, we were able to sell over 325 tickets and raise nearly $17,000 in support of our conservation and advocacy work.
This was our 4th canoe raffle since 2017. From those raffles in total, we have raised nearly $73,000! Our members are always eager to support our work while also getting a chance of winning a sought-after boat. "

Helpful Tips for a Successful Raffle
Raffle Timing
In New York State, organizations may begin selling raffle tickets up to 180 days before the drawing. Most groups see stronger results when the raffle runs longer—especially if you can sell tickets at events, meetings, or community gatherings during that time.
Ticket Pricing Strategies
Most successful raffles follow one of these two approaches:
Option 1: Limited Tickets (Premium Pricing)
-
Example: 400 tickets at $20 each
-
Tickets are advertised as limited, creating urgency and demand
Option 2: Unlimited Tickets (Lower Price Point)
-
Example: $5 per ticket or 5 tickets for $20
-
Encourages higher volume and wider participation
Selling & Promoting Tickets
Strong promotion is one of the biggest drivers of raffle success.
-
Use your social media channels regularly to remind people about the raffle
-
We recommend running the raffle for about 3 months so that word can spread.
-
Selling tickets in person at events is very effective
-
Consider selling tickets online to reach a wider audience
-
New York State provides guidelines for online raffle sales
-
If selling online, many organizations use QR codes on posters or banners displayed in stores and local businesses
-

If you would like to ask about support in 2026.
Hornbeck Boats exists because of wild water, public access, and strong communities. Giving back is one small way we help ensure those things remain for future paddlers.
Thank you for being part of that effort.
